MJ's little flock

I would do that too if I weren't anticipating nearly a months' travel in June. I love picking them up! But how would they get by if they're used to being placed on the roost? Best I sort the coop out with enough options for Peggy so they can be independent later.
Oh, I don't still do it! :) Now it is accepted that Lavender & Lottie are allowed to roost on the top bar they get themselves up there.

First group shot!

Sandy and Peggy were asleep :gig

They had a rough night with Peggy failing to land on Ivy's roost and then deciding to take her chances on the big girls' roost instead of using her own. So naturally a deluge of pecking rained down on her. Tiring for everyone.

I've put another roosting bar in this morning. Today's new one is between yesterday's and Ivy's roost. I think Peggy will use it to hop up top with Ivy.

If so, the whole flock will thank her.

I love the shot. What a wonderful flock you have now. Congrats.

After much kerfuffle, Peggy worked out how to use the new roosts (2nd and 3rd levels) to get all the way up to Ivy (4th level). Mary joined in and has decided to sleep on the 2nd level, even though it's a bit of a tight fit. Janet and Sandy are snuggled up on the first level.
Well done, Chicken Mama. :)
