While we're on the topic South Australia has had two weeks with no new cases! There are only two ongoing cases who are recuperating in isolation in their homes and there are two who are recuperated from covid-19 but still hospitalised with complications. Heaps good!

That is most excellent news. There are many government programs to help but they are temporary. Sadly, I think an overall shrinkage of the food service workforce and airline travel, for example, will be permanent.

My mum says the ACT has no active cases.

The island had no cases @ all & Queensland as a whole had no new cases last I heard. Also many are being allowed to access their super early. Most tradies seem to have continued on but I do think the hospitality industries have been hardest hit ~ & the music & acting industries as all live performances got cancelled. I know all Youngest's teaching classes moved on~line but her company only has 6 months before it will be forced to fold. It' very hard for me to grasp as the pandemic has not affected us negatively @ all. Travelling has been easier & the air around the world is the cleanest it's been in 3 centuries!

I read the next strain is more virulent. But if the island people keep doing the right thing, they'll be ok through the next wave too.

I tried for more chicken selfies tonight. Ivy obligingly tapped the shutter button twice but I guess it's not good at recognising the tap of a beak as no photos were taken despite her stirling efforts.

Catalonia is heavily dependent on tourism. It's been wiped out basically.
The area in which I live has a high percentage of arts related employment. Just in the local village here there are 3 major circus groups. Lots of people make additional income from the fairs here that run from March through to early winter. Every village has a weekend fair.
I do not know a single person under 25 here that has a full time job paying a living wage.
There are 9 Cafes/restaurants in my local village which has a population of around 2000.
Fortunately for me and others that live in the area agriculture even in allotment standard is embedded in the culture. Everyone I know in these mountains grows food and/or keeps animals. Most small holdings keep chickens and have for centuries, but the chicken keeping model is very different to that of the USA promoted on this site.
As is often pointed out here, while the virus will kill some people the politicians will kill a lot more.
It's a complete mess.
