My current computer screen.

Nope, too violent for me. Clever but too violent. That chicken is fighting for it's life! There is a plate and knife and fork right there for goodness sake!

Shad, how can you relax with that computer screen? 😨😱

I much prefer Ribh's. But then I love horses and red heads. 🥰

Over leghorns! I'm having Lilly tell Tsuki next time they are on beakbook! 😉

I had a bit of a scare today.

As I may have mentioned, Deana has been laying very thin shelled eggs for some time and this morning I noticed this.

I had just been reading an article on a case of evisceration through the rectum on Medizzy and my first thought was "Aaaaaaargh! Prolapse!"

On closer inspection it was shell membrane. Phew.

It looks like she tried to lay a shell less egg and it had popped like a balloon under the pressure leaving the contents in the nesting box and the membrane stuck to her vent.

I was able to remove it with gentle coaxing and some water. It had dried to her vent a bit. There was also some backed up poop behind it. She seems fine now but I will check her feathers in the morning for any Klingons I may have missed .

It's an interesting point.
I think it reflects the reality of the chickens life; a constant struggle to be free.
There are billions of chickens, three times more chickens on this planet than humans I've read. I doubt if 1% of them are free.
I don't know what the percentage is that get killed every year to provide food for us, our dogs, cats, most pet foods have either chicken of fish in. As a sweeping generalisation I would estimate most chickens get killed by humans.
Reading BYC for example one might be tempted to believe that all those pet loving chicken keepers are improvinng the lot of the chicken.
No creature in it's right mind would choose to be a pet of a human.
Even the 'nice' keepers shut their chickens in tiny little pens, steal their eggs, prevent them from carrying out their natural actions. Then they force breed them so they can have 'pretty' chickens, or more productive chickens.
It seems that society has reached a point where people would rather construct a delusion than deal with reality. Everybody busts a gut to appear 'nice' and make their environment 'nice'.
The picture, apart from being rather well done, reminds me of just how not nice we actaully are.
Reality, it's always worth bearing in mind.

Just saying....;)

Good morning everyone. :frow

Good morning Bob 😊 have a lovely Wednesday

My. They are giving you a rough go of it right now, aren't they. I'm glad you noticed and got that off of her so she could poo freely. :hugs
