MJ's little flock

This was the first in my mind, her liver or kidneys backed up by a vet I spoke too, she thought the same and tried too get me connected with a vet that dealt with chickens.
She's not laid an egg in a long time, but she was so happy and contented and apart from the ccolouring her poo she was still the leader and contented

By the way I dont drive.

Secondly got too thinking it was an egg yoke. Believe I'm so very upset I've tried everything.

Yesterday I completely cleared out their coop ready for winter and used pine staw because I couldn't get anything else, I think that was a trigger for what happened this morning. :(

This morning I managed too find a decent straw, all too late for my amber. Same said for getting a caring vet that actually helps :(
Did you speak to the amateur vet you mentioned on Bob's thread or a vet who is certified by the RCVS?

If you spoke to an amateur vet, what is your guarantee of their knowledge?

I was so caught up i missed part of that reply I am sorry.

She's only eaten a tiny bit and I made her have fluids with the vitamin tonic.

I will try again but feel cruel.
Flexi was searching for her so I brought her in for two reasons, for her too know where and how she's while hoping it would make amber want too eat. Flexi nibbled her food and did the beak ritual but nothing. They talked in their little way and flexi left too cuddle princess.

My dog is wanting to be near, but I know amber doesn't want his attention .
Marie, It may not help & I don't know what your computer skills are like but there are on~line avian specialists who will do a consultation & treat on~line. I'm not exactly sure where you are but an avian online vet search should turn up something in your country. They may even be able to recommend a vet. I've never had to resort to one but I found them when looking for an avian specialist.

You have got some good advice here. The general rule is always go back to basics so check for the obvious things 1st: worms, mites, lice, diet; give electrolytes/vitimins/minerals to boost immunity & strength then work out from that. Poop pictures will help your vet as well as @BY Bob & @Shadrach. Probiotics. Most chickens love yoghurt. As @rjohns39 said, fish. Mine go ballistic for fish.

One last comment.

Even though I made my points clearly,
  • I'm not a vet
  • I only have 3 years experience keeping hens
  • I don't really know what I'm talking about
So my advice is not reliable.

But I told you with lots of honesty what I would do if I couldn't take a sick hen to a proper bird vet.

All done, yogurt but not the online vet .

It's past this now. My baby is almost gone.

When you have time you'll read all that's been done.

I'm so grateful too everyone for their help and that includes you :hugs

I'll look one up asap. So at least that's some help from now on.

Sorry Marie.

Even a healthy hen dies young (in human terms)
