MJ's little flock

I've just signed off on the quote for the driveway gates and side gate, and paid the deposit. It'll be a while before they get installed because the components have got to be manufactured first.

The driveway gates will be auto-opening corro in Colourbond's Monument colour. This is a long term fix until such day as I can afford lovely timber gates instead.

The side gate will be a frame that we'll attach some old floorboards to. The side gate is a temporary fix and will be replaced after the veranda rebuild, which will be going ahead in 2022 and hopefully winding up in 2022 as well!
Exciting! I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Any chance of before and after photos?

Broody update.

I have semi regularly been kicking Edwina and Pepper out of the nest boxes in the early morning and they have been pottering around the yard with Alice for most of the day. Come nightfall however they rush back to the coop as soon as I open it and plonk themselves down in the nest boxes overnight.

I tried messing up the nests and putting egg shells on top last night (as per Shad's suggestion a while ago) and when Pepper rushed into the coop she pulled up short, extended her neck to look at the nest box, looked at me, looked at the nest box and "tuk, tukked" her way back out of the coop. Edwina was looking puzzled when she got in too.
I get the feeling from the looks they were giving me that they knew that I, and not a predator, was the culprit.

I didn't think to mess up the nest box that they hadn't been using so when I checked later Edwina had settled herself in it and Pepper was sitting in a nest with a broken (empty) egg.😒

The good news is that this morning Pepper voluntarily left the coop to go foraging with Alice. I've messed up all three nests this time and added more shells. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

"The boar's head in hand bear I
Bedecked with bay and rosemary.."

Though occasionally it would come out as "Bedecked with gay and rosemary" when we sang it, which brought forth mental images of flamboyantly dressed men draped all over the platter. 😂

I love folk rock music. My first boyfriend introduced me to Steeleye Span (and Jethro Tull) as well as the SCA. 🤗
And I pray you my masters, be merry

I can't believe my luck in knowing someone else who knows that song!!!

Lol at switching bay for gay and the ensuing visions of flamboyance!

I know lots of people who know it. Sounds like you would enjoy the SCA. ☺️
Do you have many of Steeleye Span's albums?
(P.S. I've never looked up the lyrics. I never realized that line was in Latin and just mumbled it incoherently. 🤣 )

Yes, I'm a fan too. :ya
Yay! Another kindred spirit! I bet Lozzy knows it too.
