I do not understand people's objections to roosters when we live with trucks, Motorbikes, trains, planes, jack hammers, lawnmowers etc - all of which I find far more offensive than a rooster. Hope he has a lovely few days.

I agree. And don't forget barking dogs to add to that list.

I've been trying to rehome him but it's just not happening.

To be fair, it is a very quiet street and the neighbours work shifts.

Personally, I find rooster crows a pleasant addition to the soundscape.

As do I. I have @ least 5 up the back & several further down the road. None of them are overly loud or make a continuous racket. Leonard is a joy. He does announce the new day but I'm so used to him now I rarely hear him unless I make a conscious effort.

I hope at least you have effective pain relief. Lyrica was quite good when I had shingles.

I've been to the doctors a couple of times to see if they could provide me with sonething for the pain. On both occasions I got prescribed some rather unpleasant and dangerous drugs. I've had the strangest conversations when I've asked for something less addictive with less known side effects.
I've suggested codeine. The reply was we can't prescribe that because it's addictive and if the shigles stays you might be taking it for a long time. I point out that the pharmacutical drugs they have been offering me are also highly addictive, with worse side effects. I just get a shoulder shrug.

I don't take anything the doctor prescribes now.

There are herbs that are supposed to help. Where is your witch when you need her? I don't suppose you can contact her...? Willow bark is used for headaches but I suspect any herb would barely take the edge of the pain compared to the opioids commonly used.

Well, next doors had a little chat with me yesterday (quite friendly but a gentle comment was shared), so I made his appointment. I'm eating breakfast outside as I write this update and he is much louder today.

He and Mary are seeing Dr Mark on Friday. If anything, her respiration is worsening.

I'll be giving him an excess of treats until then so he can have a couple of days of rampant luxury.

People with chronic pain often can get cannabis medication (hash)
by prescription for pain relief in the Netherlands. Isnt this possible in the UK?

Long-term pain if the cause is in the nervous system (for example, chronic pain after shingles);
