How ya think I wound up with nearly 50 of 'em?!

You know you can't get just one

Seriously, they're bite sized. I have 4 fledgie buttons out of my pairs that should be ready to go by then and 4 Coturnix. I have 15 from the Dec Egg Swap that came from JustHatchin, but I don't know if they'll be big enough to go anywhere by then. Though they grow so very fast..

I think it's just how Whitey's standing. It just makes me giggle. I understand wanting to keep all of them

I'm up to my ears in quail babies and I want to keep all of those, but they must go to new homes so I can hatch more. I guess I'm lucky you don't have another spare pullet around or I'd wind up with two pairs.

The little pullet is gorgeous in the pictures. I love the pattern of the colours on her feathers. I've already named her Peaches in my head

Now I just have to decide if I want a chicken coloured roo or the little general.

(and how lame is that? I'm on a chicken board with a zillion different chicken colours and that's all I can think of to call the cockerels.)

LOL peaches really fits her I love it! I didn't name any besides the ones i'm keeping. I knew i wasn't gonna be able to keep them all, I look forward to hatching more in spring. They are such a fun breed to raise but once those roosters start crowing (which they all are) It's time for them to move on

I can try and get better pics of the boys in better lighting.

Spookey,
This may be a stupid question but here goes. If a chick is the size of a fingernail, how big are they full grown. What do you do with them. They seem too small to eat and how big can there eggs be? To make an omlet you'd need about 10 or more of them.
These quail do sound very cute. Do you keep yours in the house? If they are so small they could probably live in a bird cage??? I'm sure you know where I'm going with this. I'm so excited to get my chickens this spring I can hardly wait!!!! I may just have to buy 1 or 2 myself.

I figured this would be the best place for this. I was wondering if anyone here knows Urch Turnland Poultry at 2142 NW 47 Ave.
Owatonna, MN 55060?

If you do, please PM me, so we don't turn this thread off topic.

Thanks!

Wolf-Kim -

If you do find out anything about Urch Turnland Poultry, let us know!! It is always nice to find things that are in our own back yard, relatively speaking.

OK, I just did a Search for Urch Turnland through all forums, and discovered that Starfroggie in Washington State ordered a bunch of birds in MARCH 2008. She has pictures of her baby chicks that are adorable! I think I will PM her and see what she has to say about how her birds matured.

And, when I took the "/" out of Urch Turnland, I found a few more references to their birds and "quality" seems to be very high. I think I'm gonna call them and see what they have right now, and what they are going to have. I would be happy to drive down there to pick up good birds....

Sorry for the SLOW reply....Just got computer back last night...YEAH!!!!!
Anyway
I live between Menomonie and Rice Lake.. Kinda a big area there, but it seems like when I mention smaller towns most don't know where they are...So those are the 2 larger towns I live between....

I would really love to make it to the meet-up....Not sure right now as Jason is leaving for training tomorrow and things are gonna be kinda hectic around here for awhile....Will let you know soon if I can make it...
