Feedback Mobile Users - Feedback On Navigation

BYC's mobile use continues to outpace that of desktop. This being the case, I want to make sure the design for mobile is as friendly as possible, specifically the main navigation:

Current navigation items for logged-in members:

1. Menu Icon
2. Recent Posts
3. Articles
4. Account Details
   
5. Conversations / Private Messages
6. Alerts

My questions for our mobile users:

1. What icons / links do you think are MOST important in the top navigation? There are a LOT we'd like to have (home, forum, articles, coops, gallery, reviews, members, etc.) but they can't all fit.
   
2. Would you rather have the "Recent Posts" icon go to to the main forum page, or keep it as recent posts, or something else? IMO, I think the icon should go to the main forum, then the sub-menu should be "Watched Threads" and "New Posts"...
3. What about the sub-menu's, any feedback on those?
   
4. How much "extra space" do you see between the Articles and Account Details buttons? We could maybe squeeze in an extra icon if everyone sees enough space on their phones in portrait mode.
   
5. Any other thoughts and/or ideas on the mobile navigation menu and sub-menus?
6. Please also "Like" and/or quote other people's ideas that you really wish we'd implement!

Be as SPECIFIC as possible when replying with your ideas!! For example:

"When I'm on the main Articles" page here, I wish the "New Content" link was the first item in the sub-menu"

I have less space between the Articles and Account buttons than is in your picture. Doesn't look like enough room for another button to me.

I like the New Posts icon, so i vote it stays as is.

Personally, my most used thing is the "watched threads". I've gotten used to where it is, so i don't necessarily care to have a button for it, but i would love it if you would separate it from "watched forums". Just rearrange the list order. I often click the wrong one! I know, user error, but hey, you asked for wishes.

I'm sure I'll be back with other stuff as they arise, and I'm actually thinking about it. Thanks for asking for input!!

I wish "Watched Threads" was first on the 2nd bar thingy.

I don't use mobile, generally, but I had to use it a few times and getting to watched threads was a pain.

I agree with B...watched threads is important to those of us who do a lot of yakking.

Agreed! That's going to be my first change!

I think I'd like to change the "discussion bubble" icon to link to the main forum and then have the sub-navigation be "New Posts" and then "Watched Threads".

Keep the ideas coming!

This might be a personal quirk for me. When I maximize conversations or any icon, I'd like for it to minimize by clicking the same icon. So to explain better, click once and it opens the icon (as in above picture) with my choices of where I want to go from there, but if I just want to get out of it I click on the same icon to minimize. Clear as mud lol?

On a slightly different topic, is there any way we can start using the emojis on our phones? Or is there a specific thread somewhere covering the topic?

To get rid of a box like that, I just click anywhere else, outside that box. It disappears.

You can use the code for the emojis, or click the smiley face in the buttons above where you are typing a reply, and a box expands, showing all the emojis. It's not a pop-up, it adds an extra box under the reply box. Just have to be careful where your cursor is when you click on the emoji to insert it.
(I use codes more often they are easier. There is a thread on those somewhere.)
