Feedback The END OF 2017 BYC Improvements Thread

View all pics in a thread would be nice... Example right now there is a featured thread for inside coop pics, half the post have no pics it would be nice to cut through to the pics.

Was wondering the other day if you can search for images in a certain thread?
Can 'search media' in advanced search, but don't think you can narrow search to a thread.

This is weird of me to say, but we need a facepalm emoji. (My hand literally just hovered over the emojis button, but then I remembered we don't have one so.... :th instead. But your probably too busy for that.

Okay, I have an improvement idea, or at minimum a desperate, pleading request! I read through this entire thread and didn't see anything about it, so here goes.

I've been working on some articles recently and I'm finding the image sizing options on the new platform to be lacking! On the previous platform, we could choose between three sizes for images, not just small and large, and the medium size was just perfect for most images. Pictures could be displayed without taking up too much space, especially in forum posts, and then they could be clicked on to view up close if others so desired. At the same time, they weren't so small that they absolutely HAD to be clicked on in order to be seen like the 'thumbnail' sized images are on the new platform.

In addition, 'thumbnail' sized images in articles also cut the top and bottom off of the picture, meaning I have a lot of headless and footless chickens on my flock page because I didn't want there to be HUGE images throughout, but wanted viewers to be able to zoom in on them if they chose to. Now, I gather from what I can see that this automatic image cropping is so they fit nicely as 'cover images' for the article, but it really is not useful otherwise. This has also led to some challenges for me as I'm preparing an informative article with a lot of visual aids that are best viewed side-by-side, but that I also want people to be able to click on for a closer look at their details. The full sized images are too big for the side-by-side aspect, but 'thumbnail' images cut portions of the pictures off, which kind of wrecks their value as visual aids since a chunk of the image is completely removed!

So, in short, is there any way that we could get a 'Medium' option for displaying images in posts and articles? :fl Or, at the very least, can the 'thumbnail' sized images in articles be fixed so that it doesn't cut the top and bottom edges off of them?

(And also, sorry for bumping a somewhat dormant thread--it just seemed like the proper place to put this. )

I'm glad you brought this up, especially that part about the cropping issue!

I don't think we'll be able to add a 3rd size option, but we can look into changing the thumbnail size to be a little bigger.
