Feedback Mobile Users - Feedback On Navigation

Ok, based on feedback we've received in this thread & usage statistics, we've made a few changes:

The icon for mobile users that looks like a chat bubble now links directly to the main forum list.

The sub-navigation items under "Forum" are now the most used 3 items, with the option to expand the list:

We hope this makes using BYC even easier! :)

Not to be a total pain  but the change seems to have put stuff under the dots for people using laptops and desktops too. Was that on purpose? I liked it better when I could access all the options on my laptop without having to click the dots to see all the stuff. For example, this actually just made it harder for me to look at, say Unanswered Posts, than it was before. Before it was right there in the bar and I just had to click on it. Now, I have to find the dots, do the dropdown, and then I can click it.

Is there a way to still make this change for mobile users without also making it so people on laptops and desktops have to click the dots to get all the options too?

Not a fan of this either @Pyxis but I can get used to it if it makes things easier for all the mobile users.

Sorry about that, and I agree it's a little frustrating. We've been trying for months to try and find a solution that is a win-win for everyone.

The problem we ran into: Every time we tried to get the items set properly for desktop or mobile, it would mess up the other one. We finally came up with a compromise that would be a good balance for both mobile and desktop. It's definitely not ideal, but it accomplished our main goal of having the most often accessed / used links showing for both mobile and desktop.

All that said, we won't give up and we'll keep looking for a way to hopefully make the links work as we want for both desktop and mobile.

I haven't been on the forum much since the change, can't teach and old dog new tricks and all that but I just wrote a rather long conversation to one of my fellow chicken friends on my iphone and included pictures etc and I cant see how I post it. There is nothing that I can see that say post reply etc. Can someone help me? Thanks

Hi :frow

If you are just starting a conversation at the bottom there should be “Start a conversation” as circled below ~

If you are replying to an ongoing conversation it should say post reply ~

Hope this helps :)

My mobile (iphone 10) shows a lot more icons and is easy to use as it is . One problem occurs sometimes: the text-buttons get invisible under the sticky navigation or keyboard.
