Moderator Appreciation 2025

Big thanks to the moderators for making me feel so welcome! I’ll admit, forums aren’t usually my thing—but the kindness, advice, and encouragement from this community made all the difference.

Thanks to all of you, I was able to build my new coop (and pick up plenty of lessons along the way!). I even managed to convince my husband that it was necessary—which, for the record, is totally separate from chicken math... that’s spouse math!

(hubby keeps doing the chicken math FYI: He thinks we only have .5 chickens.... half a chicken!? I can handle that)

Also, special shout-out to our newest moderator, @Debbie292d! Since I've been on BYC, I haven't seen any new moderators join the team (which I wasn't always paying attention, so others may have been added and I didn't know) and when I saw @Debbie292d get added, I got so excited that it literally made my day. She's an excellent BYC member and I believe it is an awesome position for her.

BYC is an incredible resource for literally millions of people around the world.

These millions of people come with a lot of different perspectives and opinions. Most of the time this adds richness and diversity to the amazing discussions within our community... but sometimes there are conflicts.

Fortunately we are lucky to have the world's best moderation team made up of incredible forum members!

Unfortunately, much of the time their tireless efforts go unnoticed and unappreciated. In fact, they often get chastised for doing work that they volunteer to do... work they do simply because they believe in BYC's mission and love our community.

So, let's each take a moment to thank the members of our moderator team here on BYC for their amazing efforts and support that keep BYC running like a well - oiled machine!!!

Your presence is both a gift and a necessity, because without moderators, this site wouldn't be here to help chicken keepers across the globe connect, learn and grow! I'm sure it's hard work, but everyone here who benefits from this site appreciates it! This site has changed lives, and sometimes saved them, and could not continue to do so without the vital efforts of its moderators!
