I have searched the FAQs, but if I simply missed it I apologize and please disregard this thread.
I frequently come across a thread where a newbie has posted a question at the bottom of someones else's thread. I know it's considered hijacking, but sometimes it happens because a person new to the forum missed the 'post new topic' button at the top of the various categories and doesn't know how to start their own thread. The 'post reply' button is pretty obvious, the post new topic one, not so much. They hijack as a way to get their first question out there.
If you're not new to forums in general it's pretty straightforward. However, if BYC is the first forum you've ever encountered (and that happens), it can be a bit daunting.
Maybe it's possible to provide a very obvious and eye catching primer for first time forum users?
