Most quiet breed and a good layer?

I have two RSL that generally don't make a peep, not even the "egg song." My BRs are pretty quiet too. Although the one that just started laying, let's everybody know that she's laying an egg.

The only bird in my flock who is consistently loud and (sometimes) annoying is my white leghorn. The "chatting" and egg songs of the others are infrequent and are more amusing and endearing than anything else.

My Brahma's are real quiet, so are my White Rocks and Buffs. My Barred Rocks aren't noisey but they are nosey, checking out everything first to find trouble if they can.

I have 6 barred rocks that are super quite. All hens. Then I got 4 Ostralorps all hens and one of them is the loudest thing I have ever heard. The other three are quite. So I think maybe it is all about personality.??

My ameraucana is a sweet one
but lets you know when she has a gift for you,
now my 16 bantan cochins lay a good size egg and I
rarely
hear a sound from them.

My hybrids are noisy but good egg layers, my Brahmas VERY noisy and broody most of the year.

Buff Orps. usually are pretty quiet and good egg layers.

Yep, the large favs I have are super quiet. Even the roos. I'm not sure about bantams. Silkie and OEGB roos are cute but mine have had crowing competitions.

I think it really depends on the individual bird, not the breed. I have expierienced loud birds from every breed that I've ever owned. You might just have to find some quiet individual birds rather than looking for a breed that is known to be quiet.
