Hi all chook lovers!
I have a question, actually two questions.
1/ My Australorp Gertie is currently having her first moult. My question is: Why does she constantly raise her wings and shake as if losing her feathers is really irritating her skin? I can't see anything abnormal on her skin and she doesn't scratch, just flaps her wings and shakes herself.
2/ Gertie was clucky a few weeks before her moult began but was prevented from entering the nest. Now that she is just about finished losing feathers she continues to "cluck". Does this mean she's still clucky? Her crown has faded from when she was laying pre-moult.
Hope someone can help :(

It's the new feathers growing in that can be irritating.
She might still be clucky(broody), time will tell.
Normal for combs to be pale when a bird is not actively laying or broody.
