How does homeschool prom work? None of us have ever been into doing that sort of stuff

So the way ours works is everyone is required to attend a fancy dinner, dance and/or symphony. Boys must dress in suits and girls in prom dresses. The only thing that's majorly different between homeschool and public school proms is that you don't go with a date and there is no single, one-on-one dancing. (Which I think is wise since we're all young and don't need anything gravitating into something more if that makes sense.)
