Awe poor guy. You know, almost anything is trainable with a dog. As long as he's being fed he's not going to eat any cats. Now chasing is another story. But don't worry, this is instinctive with dogs (especially hounds). You could keep him in the house for a few weeks to socialize him and fatten him up, then you could introduce him to the cats on a leash a few times a day for a few weeks so he can get used to being around them before you start training him not to chase. Sarah wrote a great article about harmonizing dogs with chickens and it works much the same way with cats. A training collar works really well with this sort of thing, too. I just got one for my guardian livestock puppy to train him not to chase. It was $20 on Amazon and it's a pretty good little collar for the price.

We have two houndy's of our own (Beagle and Redtick Coonhound mix) and we trained them not to chase and eat the cats, but I was just worried with this guy since he had been chasing/eating for so long. :/ But the good thing is, my aunt decided to keep him so we don't have to worry about cat training. My cousin is doing a good job with him. They named him Tike!

We have two houndy's of our own (Beagle and Redtick Coonhound mix) and we trained them not to chase and eat the cats, but I was just worried with this guy since he had been chasing/eating for so long. :/ But the good thing is, my aunt decided to keep him so we don't have to worry about cat training. My cousin is doing a good job with him. They named him Tike!

Yeah, it was a little disappointing. I'm gonna have to kill off the infestation, otherwise they'll just keep getting sick. Worm eggs in the droppings and all that (yuck). I think they got worms 'cause of the kittens living in the coop with them.

Why are the kitties in there?

We rescued them and didn't have anywhere else to put them. They'll be outside cats once we get them fixed. Cats are great to keep around 'cause they keep the snake food supply down (rats and mice). We have 3 adult cats that chased away a fox one time.
