Mucus and white lesions in mouth, please help

Thank you @casportpony. @Wyorp Rock said the same thing about it being lifelong with him unfortunately.

I hope the meds and the cause of his stress being no longer around will help him on his way to recovery. I’m so glad I checked him when I did.

He’s the same weight so I will do the same doses of the meds as you calculated for me last time.

I will let you know how he goes!

@Wyorp Rock and @casportpony I just wanted to update you both on King Henry and ask for advice again.....

I gave him the 5 day course of metronidazole and baytril back in May and his symptoms cleared up immediately. He was back to normal and very happy.

But I am now concerned again and I’m not sure if it is canker related, old age or something completely else. I don’t know if either of you can help but thought I would ask just in case.

Something seems wrong with his eyes now. I first realised last week when he walked into the ducks water bucket and got water all over his front. I had seen his front wet a few days before and wondered how that had happened and now I know he can’t see right. His eyes are not opening wide like they are supposed to.

He has no mucus or white/yellow growths in his mouth or throat. His ears are clear too. His appetite is fine and he is managing to eat slowly. His droppings are normal.

He does seem to drink more than normal and has a long drink when he first gets out of hen house in the morning.

He can see well enough to leave the garden and walk across the farmyard to the barn where he spends most of the day before returning in the afternoon for his treats.

He still crows but seems down, not his happy self.

I have given him one dose of antibiotic eye cream that I had for a duck but it didn’t make any difference so I didn’t continue.

I just don’t understand what is going on. Maybe it is just old age but I love him too much not to help him if I can.

I'm sorry that King Henry is not doing well :hugs

I see bubbles in both eyes, but more in one than the other. Bubbles, I usually associate with Mycoplasma, but it could be infection or irritation from a number of things.

Ears are clear of wax/debris?

It's hard to know what's causing the eyesight failure @Eggcessive knows more about eyes than I do. I would flush with saline daily. What is the eye ointment you have for Ducks?

Is his sinus (under the eyes) a bit swollen too? Some roosters are a bit fleshy, so it may be normal for him. Chonal slit is clear of mucous?
Just brainstorming here of course, he's been through soooo much! Have you added new outside birds to your flock?

Thank you so much for getting back to me quickly.

To answer your questions:

His weight is the same

No chickens added to the flock since 2 years ago. There are 17 chickens and he is the only male. None of the others look affected.

I do think his sinuses are swollen as well. I never noticed the bubbles until you pointed it out but they are there.

His choanal slit looks clear. I will attach a photo. I did however, notice a white mark next to it which wasn’t there before.

His ears are clear of wax. They got blocked up again during the last canker episode but cleared up with hydrogen peroxide.

The eye ointment is opticlox which we had for lambs but the vet said it could be used on the duck. It is cloxacillin.

I’ve been watching him closely this afternoon and he does eat greenery but isn’t foraging for worms or anything in the ground. He also seems to open his mouth occasionally after eating. Like he needs an extra breath.

I have saline so will start with that. Do I just use a dropper to apply it or dab his eyes with a soaked cotton ball?
