I’m going to get breeding pair of NZ white and maybe 1 more female of different color? Whites are preferred for meat stock

Is it just cause it is a lighter colored carcass? I have a tortoise shell NZ who is HUGE and is a great mom

Was at tractor supply and they had 9 day old australorps for $1 each!! Keep waiting to walk in on some CX

Mainly because white fur remnants not as visible on the meat

You have heat issues with your meat rabbits?

I tried Tamuk line of meat rabbits. They are a NZ/CA crosses that are knows for heat tolerance. My NZ and CA rabbits start showing signs of being uncomfortable around 75-80 degrees. The Tamuk line is 85 degrees or so. Very noticeable difference.

I’ve been lucky with my NZ white….they tolerate the weather here fairly well. I have a tree in that part of the yard that offers shade plus the roof over the cages. They don’t show as much stress as my birds do at times.
