The vet got back to me and said that because of the species of Capillaria, a type of lung worm, she suggests keeping with what she originally prescribed. She said that people give that dose at different frequencies because this type is very hard to kill. My sick chicken began eating pellet food the day after I gave her Safeguard and she has been improving ever since. She’s running around and her poops look almost normal. She is still tired though, resting more often than before.
I’m going to monitor her closely and see if I need to give more Safeguard earlier than recommend by the vet. Let me know your thoughts!
