I know there are a lot of posts about hatcheries and reviews of hatcheries (which I have poured over) but most of the reviews are older.

I ordered my first batch of chicks from them and I'm really worried... The woman I talked to on the phone was extremely rude and acted like any questions I had were a huge nuisance for her. I told her that I needed birds that wouldn't bully each other, and she said birds of EVERY breed will get along perfectly no matter what. Also she told me that in no instance EVER would a chicken harm another chicken. She said this all VERY rudely.

Seeing as this is my first experience ordering chicks... Ever... I was completely put off. First off, I know what she said wasn't true. Second, I talked to her for not even five minutes.

PLEASE PLEASE leave some positive reviews so that I don't feel so terrified about ordering from them:fl

Side note: I am getting the free exotic chick from them, which I am VERY excited about. I know it will most likely be a Roo, but we have more than enough room for one and would gladly accommodate it!

*I'll update as the process proceeds and as I get my chicks (not due until April 2015)*

Wow. I have never ordered from them, but that would certainly put me off as well. Hopefully everything will work out ok for you though.

We got an order from MM in April this year. I'm sorry you had a bad impression due to the employee you spoke with. We thought they were a very good company to deal with. I placed our order online and then called later to ask a couple questions and update our order. The person we spoke with was very helpful and courteous. They notified us when to expect delivery and it came right on time. We did have 1 little chick that died within 24 hours unfortunately but the person I spoke to on the phone about that was very sympathetic and quickly offered us either a refund or a free chick with our next order. We're hoping to be able to get some meat birds in the spring and will definitely use them again.

Maybe you just got ahold of someone having a bad day. I hope you think the birds you are getting are as great as ours are!

I've ordered from them many times and have never had an experience like yours. I'd complain to management, especially if I remembered the name. I've had good phone experiences, and nice chicks every time. Good luck with your birds, and welcome. mary

I've also ordered from them several times, and their customer service has always been excellent and my chicks arrived on time and in good health. I agree you probably just caught someone in an off moment. I used to work in a call center, and its a pretty stressful job sometimes (not that that's any excuse for her behavior).

I'm sure your chicks will be just fine when you get them :) So, what did you order? And, I disagree that EVERY breed will get along. My docile Silkies and Cochins don't do well with other breeds, they tend to get picked on, for example. And, chickens bully each other everyday. They each have their place in the pecking order, and the ones at the top pick on the ones at the bottom to some degree or another every day. Its just what they do. And, you may get the occasional chicken that just picks at others excessively or is rejected by the others. Its my experience that most flocks get along fairly well, with minimal bullying, if their needs are being met. But, I have certain birds who just couldn't ease up and settle in.

Good luck with your future flock :)

Thanks for all the replies- that is SUCH a relief that it was just a fluke thing! I am SOOO excited for April. I will call and talk to someone new to discuss the problem I had.

I got goslings there this April and the person on the phone was super nice and they gave me super healthy babies so I am totally going to order from there again.

I ordered seven 7-week olds from them (which actually came from a farm in Texas) in Jan. 2014, and 15 babies in April 2014. Lost a couple of the chicks, but nothing out-of-the-ordinary. Have been pretty pleased with them and their customer service. Might get a couple of lacking breeds in Spring 2015, but am making my own now.

As far as hatcheries go, I am using them unless given a reason not to.
