Muscovies in US - REGULATION CHANGES OPEN FOR COMMENTS - 10/1 update

I don't have Muscovies...folks across the street do. They let them just wander up and down the street and all over my front yard. Personally I enjoy them. Duck poop is good for my yard.
So, here's my answer....let's just put little winter hats and summer bonnets on them to disguise them ! After all if you can't see all those "Carbuncles" you'll never know !
Sorry, couldn't resist the carbuncles....I know that's not what they are but suuuuurrrreee do look like them ! Do love the chocolate ducks. I will sign a petetion. This crap of interfering with our lives should stop. I mean...they're DUCKS ! Not some dangerous beast.

By the way...if you can only sell them for eggs and meat....how the H_LL do you get any more meat if you can't hatch the eggs ******won't they just cease to exist ??? I mean, if you had 10 Muscovies and ate all 10...how does anybody get more if they can't propegate ???
Either I'm really stupid or the Tin Man needs a brain. I'm getting really tired of having my rights screwed with.

Im so sick of seeing this crap ( not you op i thank you for posting it

) They really screw everything up, so many people enjoy raising and breeding scovies! Its the people that dont care about the animal and thought its a cool exotic pet that releases it. Wow i am so mad

Wow, crazy! Scovies have really seemed to take off as the top pet duck over the past year or so.

Best case to appease both sides as much as possible: Have mule scovy ducks that are 1/2 scovy and 1/2 something else so people can have them, but no worries about them getting loose and being able to breed (since they are sterile). A whole industry that sells mule scovies could be established! "Create your mule scovy" site where you could mix a scovy with another breed and get it shipped to you!

I have a drake and hen who are "wild" around here. I hand raised the hen and the drake has been here for over 6 years. They go between my yard and the neighbors pond all day long.

I HATE this! People who know me know the only thing i hold a grudge against is when my ducks are threatened. This just SUCKS! I mean the only pure bred ducks ill have this year will be from my scovies - I just adopted two adult hens from CALIFORNIA!


I'll be writing to my rep. Muscovies have the personalities of dogs and just ---- ARG! How can people do this? Ovbiously the people who made these laws have NEVER owned or been around scovies. If they had they would know that each scovie has its own personality. Its own heart. Its own mischevious glint in the eye. Its own motherly instincts that bring others in awe. Scovies have the fire in their bellies to fight off predators ( well my hen does), and scovies ... well how could you kill something that coos like a scovie hen?! If the people who have made these laws have ever been around a scovie and still decide to kill them off and go through with this law then they obviously are missing vital parts to not only their brains - but their hearts.

Woohoo - after hearing this, my husband said, "Well, I guess you better get them before the 31st!" Nothing like getting the a-okay for a new critter!

Reading the text, it seems that the real concern is that they are being released for hunting. Regardless of the reason, I still don't think it's okay. If they're concerned about the *feral* population, they ought to offer a hunting bounty or some such thing.
