They are planning on sedating them and loading them en masse into a truck for transport to the gas chamber. I don't imagine a pretty scene. I sure wouldn't want my last moments to be on the bottom of a pile, aware but unable to free myself, suffocating under the weight of my brothers and sisters. Bones broken and feeling it. THAT sounds like suffering to me.

They are being killed humanly, they COULD go out there and beat them with baseball bats. They aren't suffering.

So what would you consider suffering? Not being able to live out your full life and enjoy all that is has to offer before you die? Right now they dont care what age the ducks are so dont you think that they should at least have the chance to have the life a duck should? And then be put towards something useful?

I would consider suffering a slow, painful death that was unnecesarily drawn out. The age of the duck doesn't really make a difference to me, people don't get all upset and start petitions to stop the ducklings from being killed by predators.

Like someone mentioned, are YOU willing to butcher 110 ducks, feed them to homeless people and risk a lawsuit if someone gets sick?

Come on, give me a break! Listen to yourself. Are you just trying to get a rise out of people? This organization is willing to do all this... they are not going to dump them.

If they are sedated then they wouldn't really even know whats going on.

No, I'm just trying to point out that the reason those ducks are there in the first place is because someone dumped them. Why should the city go through all the trouble to catch the ducks, transport them to a new place who will adopt them out to other people when the people created the problem in the first place?

Exactly how do you know this?

Also, I am seriously curious... Are you playing devil's advocate or do you honestly believe that killing the ducks is a better solution than re-homing them, responsibly, for free, to an organization that can take them and will not allow them to return?

The offer by OWLS is *not* to piece meal adopt them as you seem to be under the impression. It is to send them to a farm, together. They will not be dumped again by the farm!!! Furthermore, not killing them is not going to prevent idiots from dumping Easter ducks next year anyway.

You would actually consider a death like that? Thats pretty sickning. And the food chain is different then people going out there and gassing the birds. That is not part of the food chain. And yes i will kill 110 ducks and i will put them in MY frezzer and i will just eat duck for the next year or so and give them to people who trust me and my killing. That ok with you?

Is that not what sedating them is for? Why then should they go through the trouble of sedating them in the first place?

I do think that killing them is a better solution, 110 ducks isn't really a lot if you look at how many there really is out there. If the organization wants to rescue 110 ducks I'm sure they could capture 110 MORE ducks to move to a farm.
