I found my apprx 4 wk duckling yesterday aftrnoon with her legs splayed out. I am afraid she must have slipped. We put a hobble on her and she seemed to walk a little better. As it was bedtime i just put her in her bed. This morning she moved around pretty well. Not great, but seemedlike maybe she would get better. Kept the little hobble on her so her legs would not splay straight out to the sides like Bambi on ice. We took them off so she could have a swim and she did great. She’s been eating and I don’t know how ducks act in pain but there’s nothing i perceive to be such....So this evening however she absolutely cannot even stand. And she just gives up on trying to tuck her legs under. I do it for her And she just lens over.

or could it actually be niacin? Do their legs go splat that suddenly from a deficiency? I have been feeding her 18% duck crumble that says it is the “sole ration for growing ducks.” I also give her some mealworms. I don’t know what to do for her, or if she may possibly get better... But i do know how happy she makes me and my heart is just breaking for this little one. I’ve read everything i can find on here but-any more thoughts?? Thanks ever so much.

Could you post a picture or video of the duck? What kind of bedding are they being housed on?

:welcome Is this duckling out with the general population? Might be best to put it an another for company in a pen or enclosure so this little one has time to recover. Keep the hobble on and give her more time. No swimming water with out supervision. Any yes ducklings can still have a niacin def if on the proper feed they just aren't metabolizing it normally, if you can get some liquid b complex from TSC we see fast recovery. Durvet injectable B complex we use it orally over meal worms so they get full dose. Right now limit her from wanting to keep up and possibly causing more injury. 4 week old can have 1ml morning or break it up into 2X half ml morning and evening.
