Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I could never put my Muscovy's in a pen with my geese my geese are like mobsters this time of year.
My ducks have the geese outnumbered! And they stand their ground.

It's funny to watch. My Muscovy's just hang out together and stand their ground. Only one of my geese is acting up and as his mate is laying I can't really blame him.

The drake is clipped. I was going to leave the females so they could fly away from the drake if needed. We have a lot of land so it's not a problem if they fly around. They are in separate pens now. Eventually I will let them free range. Should I clip the females??

Speaking of rough chickens, OMG. Just had our first injury this week and it is horrendous. I'm guessing a young rooster started it and when the others saw blood, they just pounced on her. Poor girl. I feel so sad for her. Keeping her in the house at night and day pen. She's eating and moving around real well but just looks awful. I'm giving her tetracycline in the water and topical antibiotics. She's got a long way to go

Chickens can be quite vicious and when they see weakness or an injury it can easily end in death. Sorry for your hen....

My female goose was torn up by our Roo, aka dinner, when she was about half grown and he ripped a huge chunk out of her neck. I thought there was no way she would make it as it looked so bad. We kept her in our tub and kept her wound clean and coated in antibiotic ointment and amazingly she pulled through. She is also the sweetest goose ever. See my picture? She is quite the cuddler.

So don't give up. Sometimes they can survive pretty bad injuries. Just be really careful in reintroducing her to your flock. Maybe a pen inside your chicken run. Put her inside and gauge how they all act around each other. They could possibly have forgotten she was a part of their flock and they could try attacking again.

I had read and heard of this happening but it's hard to see. Bullying in it's worst form.

So glad your goose recovered. She is pretty. I wish I had a cuddler.

Will definitely be careful reintroducing her. We have a pen that we use just for this. She has a lot of skin missing on her head and neck so it might be a long while before she goes back out.

Hang in there. She will probably make it. I had a local dog take a bite out of one of my Pekin ducks, it was so bad you could move the wing and see down into the breast, terrible!! I put hydrogen peroxide on it (I bet that felt good!!) and Neosporin on it and kept her separated in a smaller cage inside the duck's large enclosure. This way the other ducks didn't forget about her, they were with her each night. I did this for about 2 weeks, released her and everything was like normal. I would have never thought that duck would have made it!

Good luck!

@kenji92 your Scovy's are beautiful.

@Ren2014 I am sorry about your hen but it is amazing how they can survive such horendous attacks. Chickens can be brutal.

As far as clipping your females that is up to you, I only clip my girls not my drake, but I don't want them flying down to the river down below us.
