AC person is also a good neighbor and long time resident. He went into shock when I approached him at the coffee shop and told him that my house was going on the market. (NOT) In the long run, they are not going to beat me, but they may make life uncomfortable for a while. This neighborhood has only ever seen the easy going, help you out, good guy side of me. I have a flip side that I choose not to use, but don't push me. I will protect my rights if necessary.

Oh, Sourland I really hope it doesn't come down to this! I couldn't even imagine having to make those sorts of decisions.

It's a shame that the honest people ahve to suffer for others' stupid actions.

Two suggestions: pursue grandfathering for yourself, and then help write the ordinance that will address what is causing problems. Maybe something requiring permits, addressing nuisances and complaints.

Our county went through something similar years ago when we used to show St. Bernards. We raised very few puppies, sold them mostly out of state, lived in the county and most people didn't even know they were there. So we got very nervous when they tried to pass an ordinance mandating things like kennel licensing, limiting how many dogs you could have, surprise 'inspections' - which while we kept the place spotless I had a real problem with people saying they had access to my property. Turned out it never really went anywhere and was mostly a lot of talk, and nobody ever bothered us.
