My Araucana & Ameraucana eggs! Now with PICS ;)

That's why I charge more for my eggs on eggbid. I give all my buddies here at BYC a $10.00 minimum discount on them.

I have been lucky with my fertility. I hope it continues. When I first bought my birds from the various breeders of the ABC, I decided to outcross. It has yielded good results for me.

My fertility is high and my chicks are bigger and fluffier than some of the top breeders in the club. Now, I may not win all the accalades some do, but my birdies are of good type, lay well and I am working on the egg color in all varieties except blue and black. I have so many in those varities that lay nice blue eggs this year, that I am just going to put the extra (greenies) in the layer facility.

Yeah, Jeans eggs develop great (mine haven't hatched yet). I won 12 on eggbid and got 14, 11 which are developing nicely. Great numbers for eggs that came across from one coast to the other

. I am so looking forward to my hatch looking at your beautiful babies

Hey Ang, I just saw your updates. Congrats on the chicks. The two you hatched are not likely related, with 3 roos and numerous hens. I wish the outcome would have been better though. For future reference, you can get better hatches if you don't open the incubator during the hatch. Hoping the rest hatch ok for you. Jean's babies are adorable too. Great job!

Yeah, I think it was mostly that delay on behalf of the PO. Most of them never even developed (all but one were scrambled by the PO... the other started to develop but died off arounf day 10). With 5 left, you can't expect much

And it may have been 4...... the 5th one I overlooked likely was never candled and may have never developed also. I'm happy with 2

I can't find them anywhere around here, so 2 chicks is better than none!

I have, so far........ of the ones that developed.....

13 out of 16
and
2 out of 5

I think those are pretty good numbers. If not for that delay in shipping... must have been rerouted due to flooding or something... I think it would have been much higher.

My humidity and temp never fluctuate when I snag chicks out. I also have that little side hatch I use. I hadn't planned on opening the bator... but once again there were special circumstances. Chicks that needed to be helped ASAP. Ah, maybe next time I can keep it closed the whole 3 days! :|

I'll definitely get eggs from you again... someday... when I have a broody hen!
big_smile.png
Nah, I don;t know if I will be able to wait on a broody I may never get!
tongue.png
But..... This incubator thing is stressful! Between the short dump my fan took on me, power surges and outages and my son getting into the bator... it's a wonder I have ANY chicks!!!!

My remaining 3 Ameraucana eggs were no good... must have stopped somewhere around day 15 or so.

But, there might be something in the remaining Araucana eggs........

Looking at my two chicks... I can't tell if they're tufted or not... LMAO I think the tufts should HAVE to be a contrasting color

YAY on your new babies!

If you take good, clear, close-up pictures of the Araucana babies' heads, I could probably tell you if they're tufted.

LMAO Yeah... I became an addict to that show!
big_smile.png
Was like crack! I can;t believe it's gone!!! RIP Farscape!!!

It works well as an expletive replacement

I wish my good camera wasn't broke! But I will do my best... just as soon as they are all poofy and what-not

LOL, that's it Farscape! I tell you with six kids I'm lucky to remember my own name. I loved that show too, I still have the finale on tape somewhere
big_smile.png
. Hear you about being addicted, dh would roll his eyes when I would say my show is on, until he saw an episode and got hooked too. Good luck with the babies! Just out of curiosity (again, cuz I'm that way) what was the egg color difference between your Ameraucana and Araucana. I know how long the hens were laying affect color, but I was curious. If you don't want to post that's fine, don't want to make anyone mad at me :| .
