Callie I am sorry for your loss. Heart goes out to you. I had the same problem..mailing! I just go to the local feed store during the easter season and fall when they have chicks. They do much better that way! None of my feed store chicks have died (now 2 years old), but the mailed ones ALL died sooner or later. NO MAILING FOR ME! Or you might get some from local farms? My family is in Lake Charles by the way! Irion's.

Definately call the hatchery. dont be mean, or you'll get a mean result. tell them how heartbroken you are...that only 11 of the males had made it...and if you can have your post office confirm that in a letter that you can fax them, the better it will be for you. I'm sorry for your loss. dont give up, it wasn't you that "broke" them.

i bought 8 chick 4 had died,a week after we had them,one has been sick for 4 days.we been babying her and looks better,but a long way from great. today i got 6 more chicks to make up for the ones who died. 2 hrs. later 3 of the new ones had died and 3 of the 4 older ones died.we have them inside the house in a open tote with lots of room. now im thinking the older sick one's poop had killed them?? the 3 baby's don't look to hot,i'll be shocked if there alive in the morn.3/26/15 8pm. help?? had birds in the past never lost a one. pretty bummed
