My baby chick injured ...

if shes laying on her side most of the time make sure shes lays on the other side sometimes to i dont think it would be good for her to stay on just one side all the time. hope she gets better and walks soon

Yea she is staying on one side ... we picked her up this morning, felt all around her legs ... they hung down and she moves them, but she just won't stand ... she lays out like a dog would ... I took a few pics of her today ... I will post later.

Her hind end looks much better.

We tried to sit her and lay her the opposite way, she won't stay that way. I noticed earlier today she spread her one wing way out!! Never saw her do that before today.

How's she fairing today?

She's surely getting lots of attention from the family ... LOL

We bought her a cage yesterday, rabbit cage, didn't put the top on it though, put in a blanket and rug ... now I can carry her outdoors to get fresh air without disturbing her and you can tell, she LOVES THAT!

She's going to the bathroom great - she seems more relaxed ... she still peeps though when I bring her back indoors ... she peeps when I go out to check her ---- I don't want to leave her outdoors by herself, we live in the woods, don't want to let any thing get her ...

I notice she leans herself up against the cage to hold herself up - here's a few pics, her legs are actually under her here, I haven't seen this with her before, normally they are stretched out and she's laying on her side. She just seems like she's getting stronger ... eating, drinking ... just not up walking YET. My husband says he thinks it's her hip? If she has a hip, but that area.

I put the mirror in her cage ...she's using it for sure!!

Hello beautiful!

She definitely does look better! I've read about chicks with dislocated hips on here before... I'd do a search for old threads. Think sometimes they need popping back into the socket by a vet, or othrwise can heal on their own

Yea, I know what you mean!!

The weird thing is, she moves the leg, when she wants to move herself, she sorta paddles with both legs and turns herself in a circle. Just when she tries to stand, she falls over ...and it's the one side.

My husband tried to turn her to the other side this morning, she wouldn't let him. That's kind of scary, I could hear my hubby now if I ask to take her to the vet! LOL

Hoping she will heal, and get up and walk!!

i had a chick about the same age as that one get attacked by some kind of animal and punctured her hip area and i cleaned it she would lay to the side most of the time and sit down alot but it healed slowly and when she got better she had a limp she was a house chicken (wearing diapers of corse) we decided to let her in with the others cause she was almost laying age and i put her in the coop and no limp so i have no idea limp no limp lol. i think your chicks hips might be popped out of place you really cant feel it to much but massaging her legs top to toe might help
