In fact, I think you should send her pic to George Lucas at Skywalker Ranch here in Northern Calif- She could star in his next film.

Now there's an idea. The next cute George Lucas aliens!

I'm sure you noticed that she's up on my shoulder in those pics. The first thing she does nearly every day, as soon as I walk into the pen, is to fly onto some portion of my anatomy. It can be startling to have a little brown bundle of feathers launching itself at yer face!

Maybe some day! It should be noted, however, that none of these birds are acceptable colors, by the standards. And only one of em has grey legs, which they all should. I'm sure that's why the breeder gave them to me, which is fine with me!

Ok, don't get mad, but I just nic'd your picture and posted it to the Marans thread.

Just let me know if you want me to take it down

it's not my picture to move around.
But, I swear that is the cutest bird I've ever seen.

Ehhhh, that's okay -- as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

And yes, she IS the world's cutest little bird. Cute personality, best of all!

The other thing you have to remember is they are all tufted, which is a lethal gene if bred tufted x tufted

Pretty birds

Good thought to remind people of -- but remember that even tufted x tufted doesn't mean all the embryos will die. Uhhhhhmmmmmm......half, I think? Something like that...

yeah, I *think* it's about half, but since I don't have a single rumpless AND tufted I haven't researched it completely yet

. I only care if I get them from a source that needs to ship them, they have enough problems with shipping that if you added that factor I'd probably get a 0% hatch

Those are absolutely beautiful birds! And you've taken excellent pictures, too!!!

Thank you so much for posting them!

Regarding leg color, if you mate your slate (gray) -legged pullet to your yellow-legged cockerel, there's the possibility that you might get some willow (green) -legged offspring, which is the correct color for most varieties of Araucana.

When I first started with Araucanas, I made the mistake of trying to get standard plumage colors before attaining proper leg color, and I'm sure paying for it now!
