My Chicken Has Blue Eyes - Does Yours?

A couple of my ameraucana's have blue eyes. It's almost creepy... And like they're wearing teeny colored contacts hahaha.

I've had many chicks develop blue eyes as young chicks and they change after six months to Amber, especially my EEs , I wouldn't worry about it .

I hatched 5 Ameraucana chicks 5 weeks ago, and all 5 have blue eyes.. is this normal..? I've never had blue eyed chickens before...

She’s only 6 weeks so I don’t know if they will change but I love her eyes

I'm curious. If this is a mutation, it should be looked into! This gene is not documented if it's genetic. I wonder if it's linked to dilution in the skin/feathers like it often is in dogs? Either way those of you with the blue eyed birds should do some dominance tests and see if you can get it to breed true after a few generations. This would be very exciting if it were a newer gene.

I hatched a chick out that has blue/orange marbled eyes - just like an Aussie dog! I was wondering if anyone else has ever had something like this happen? If so, I would love to see pictures! Please share photos of any blue eyes in chickens. There was an older thread from 2010 about blue eyes in chickens, but the photo links were no longer good, so I could not see the pics.

mine grew out of it, she now has orange eyes like all her sisters

I know this was 5 years ago, but does anyone here still have their blue eyed chickens? Do you breed them? I’d love to buy some if you do, or maybe even buy the eggs if they’re fertilized. I definitely want to add a blue eyed bloodline to my Easter Eggers!
