My chicks are MIA:box found:all doa -Update: new order shipping Monday

The chicks I ordered from Ideal arrived timely and all alive...all 75. The chicks I ordered from McMurray shipped on saturday (a week ago) and got to me on Tuesday and it was not good. A third were dead and by 24 hours later, I was left with only 5 of my order of 26. They are being nice and are reshipping the entire order this week. I hope it will not be a repeat.

I have no doubt they will reship or refund......its just sad and disappointing. I wonder if they got delayed because of some ridiculous routing....you know, like where a package going from california to arizona ships from california to washington to arkansas back to arizona? Because going straight from TX to TN should not have had any weather delays. If they were going to 'drift' up north a bit then maybe it would......either way, I don't expect any to be alive at this point as that would be nearly impossible.

I received a call today from Ideal about my buttercup chicks. The lady I spoke too was very nice, and they are reshipping them on Wednesday along with some other chicks I had previously ordered. Hopefully this shipment will work out better than the first one.

OH !!! I'm so sorry about your little babies. Hope also that there was a mistake at Ideal. Last Sept I ordered from Ideal. About 35 chicks. They went out on Wed and I got my call from the PO at 5 am Thursday morning. I did loose one but they refunded. I was happy with their service and the kids are now big and strong. I recently ordered some more for mid March....they called me to tell me if they waited until then to ship I wouldn't be able to get my Cuckoo Marans as they were short on them. So they will ship whole order on 2/17 for arrival on 2/18. I live in MA so I thought that was good service. I ordered 2 adult Black Silky ducks from Holderreads a couple of weeks ago. They shipped on Tuesday night and I got the 5 AM call on Thursday. That was Oregon to MA.
I hope all is ok for those little guys.

I know what you mean. Besides the disappointment of not getting your chicks that you and your family are anxiosly awaiting, you feel terrible when you open that box and see those little ones that didn't make the trip. In my case, it was the first time ordering from them and I asked if maybe I was too far to safely ship. I don't want to be selfish putting through a trip that they have little chance of surviving. The representative reasured me that this happens time to time and there is usually not problem and normally they would handle the trip just fine. They may have been placed in a drafty location along the way or something. Still does not make me feel better though.

Since their still not at your house...you could always hope that someone messed up and they were delivered to the wrong PO and maybe someone got surprise baby chickies??? Just trying to stay positive...since you can't determine where they are...

I have made two orders with Ideal last year and all arrived fast delivery(TX to NJ) and happy healthy chicks...customer service was great...I'm sure they'll make good on it for ya! My girlfriend just ordered from MM and they just called to say that they were not shipping out any chicks until Feb22nd b/c of all the bad weather(I was glad to hear it!) Sorry for your chickies!

This same thing happens every year, but its not the hatcherys fault. I have had all my orders from ideal come in next day...but I do live in tx.

Wow, I got my first order of chicks from Ideal. I had one that was not well. I called (like it says too) and was hoping they'd give me some advice. The woman on the phone was very dismissive and told me to just call them on Monday with how many died.

Well, I went with Ideal because they seemed to understand the backyard chicken owner. These chicks were more then just a product to me. I felt really bad losing one. I expected the Customer Service Rep to offer me help on what I could do, and I got none.

I won't be ordering from Ideal again and after this thread I doubt I'll order chicks through the mail again either. I don't like the idea of all the death.
