I followed the trail of feathers to my neighbor's house. It is another Pit dog. It tore through welded wire and hardware cloth and just killed them all. I was so happy to get these as I had wanted some since I was a little kid.

On the other cage (RIR) it scratched up the sides of the coop and pulled off a piece of the roof. Those chickens are ok though. It also turned over lots of potted plants and destroyed some of those.

I have called the police and pointed out previous calls about this same dog before when it escapes because it is a vicious dog.

I need help with costs for 4 adult Mille Fleur D'uccle hen replacements and a rooster. I have no idea. They want me to get the cost of replacement for things.

We're they show quality? Were the laying yet?
I think it would be fair to say at least $15 each for the hens. And $10 for the roo. These aren't a common variety.

At a recent show an older hen & roo set had an asking price of $55, but I don't know that anyone was willing to pay that for them. But I'd think an adult quad would be worth that or more!

I'm not sure of Show Quality I had to drive 120 miles to get them from a farm in North Carolina where the farmer's wife loved rare breeds. They had begun laying this year. Luckily I hatched 13 chicks from them. It is upsetting because I've wanted those since I was child and was so happy to find some. It took me 25 years to finally get them.

I'm so sorry that your birds were killed.

I'm glad that you seem to be getting some cooperation from the dog's owners, though. I know it won't bring your birds back, but hopefully it will make it a bit less painful to remember them.

I'm glad you got chicks from them!

I'd take your cost to buy them, add on the cost of gas to go and get them, then add about $20 for feed until they were laying age. That's what I'd charge.

Plus the cost to replace the coop (could you trust it if it were just repaired?) and anything else that was destroyed.
