my duck needs surgery !!!!

@Miss Lydia We just bought Vetrycin. However, with the wound and the fact they believe it is a big puncture/perforated. It's best to just leave it. They advised we use warm water if we feel it needs it.

Not sure if we should do the warm water and then Vetrycin or just leave it alone for now. It does appear to have pus coming out. Again though, it's unsure how deep it goes. If it's just in the skin/fat or workings it's way deeper. So we are just cautious of what we potentially put on it.

Don't use it if Drs say not to use. But it's great product to have on hand in your med kit.

It's an open wound I haven't ever heard of a hernia being an open wound. You did say it was a hernia?

@Miss Lydia
They said it was a hernia yes. But at the end of it there is an open puncture, (black in appearance and almost seems like staph/bumblefoot from what I've seen and read) clearly it can't be bumblefoot but the sore looks similar. It's also black around it, not sure if it's dead or bruised skin but it's something in combination with her feathers being mated (it does feel crusted)

Maybe coincidence and separate from the hernia situation all together. My guess is she was not fully 100% healed and once the hernia took place, it's pushing out this little hole making it seem bigger and allowing an infection to form. Not sure if the intestines or stomach are exposed, but she is acting okay, no hunching, signs of distress, bowels okay and eating just fine. She just has a limp which I'm chalking up to us letting her run around for 5 hours today.

I wonder why they wouldn't want you to do anything except run water over it if it's infection?

I sure hope you can get in soon.

And Bumble is staff you can get staff in any part of the body.

Because it could be serious and then we are just entering chemicals into who knows where. We just got a call that her surgery will be 8 am tomorrow. Hoping for the best.
