Just looked up the Paradise Shelducks, they are awesome too! I was really surprised that the female is the one with the white head !
If would have guessed at the sexes I would been so wrong ! Good luck with your Paradise, hope you hatch some.

shes going in her cave alot now so hopefully... cmon down anytime Aubrey. Im going to give it my all on breeding this year(but its really up to the ducks
lol.png
) And going to get my federal permits to sell finally. Getting some new species next year after breeding so will be selling alot because they will be exspensive. My wife told me yesterday that for every pair of ducks I get she gets a new pair of shoes

Well I guess she gets 2 pr next week

That is too funny..... 1 pair of ducks for 1 pair of shoes..... Tell her the ducks are an investment and he shoes aren't!! I have a closet full of shoes that I got before the birds came along and now I look at shoes and purses like.. hmm that's a pair of _____ whatever pair I am wanting at the time! plus the birds are way more relaxing!

yep, depending on her taste, that could get pricey. I thought the food bill was bad enough, LOL
Hate to have a shoe bill on top of that. Great on the breeding too. I am going to do my absolute best to build my first pens this spring when egg money starts coming back in (that's mines deal, all I buy has to be paid for threw bird profits, LOL)
Made a ton the past two years, so hopefully the trend will hold, and I can buy a ton of ducks this coming season.
Also plan to get all the seaducks one way or another this time too, as their prices have dropped drastically, still high as all get out, but at least not 5 grand any more.
You and kangababy, should be hearing from me, as I want to drive to get most, more shipping I can save = more birds I can buy, plus I prefer to support locals here in the south with them too when I can.

Talked to my best bird bud in tenn, and unfortunately no sea ducks for me because he said its too hard here because of the multiple molts they go though

yep, the red breasted and all 3 pygmies are on my wish list too.
I dont know, I did have the eiders here and they did just fine for me, even reproduced?? I'm sure it's tuffer on them, maybe the kings, stellers and spectacled would be out, but harlequins, common eider, old squaw and red breasted mergansers should be fine I would think, as they arent as arctic dedicated as the finicky eider species.
Mike and Ali (Sylvan Heights) always has scoter too up there every time I went. (not that pretty but they bred them)
Dont get me wrong, they definitely take dedication, but would be worth it to me.

oh no now Im torn. Heres what Ill do if things go as planned .Get the red-breasted,they breed, sell babies.Buy africans, they breed, sell babies. Finally buy harlequins...Ahh the perfect world.

yep from what I've been told, second year as well, IF you can get them to breed at all. They are a swampy location duck/goose so set the pen for them up similar to what we have naturally here in the south and they'll love it. Very hard to get to reproduce though. A pen especially for them (1 pr to the pen) will be your best bet.
Have you located any breeders with them other than Sylvan? Just curious as to how thier prices are looking. Whne I was checking into them, they were $5000 - $7500 (if you could even find someone with them who would part with them. Let me know for sure if you find any, and I'll do the same.
Saw some bronze wing ducks for sell online last night. I've always loved them too, but they were still high too, $1600 pr
