So, my female duck is 6 months old and just started laying for the very first time January 8th. She has laid an egg every morning since then. The other day I when I let her out she was acting very quiet and was walking slowly. I heard the weirdest sound coming from her stomach/bottom. It literally sounded like the crunching of egg shells and a gurgling sound. About 15 minuted later she perked up and was acting normal. The next day, when I went to let her out about 9am like I usually do, I noticed she did not lay an egg so I then thought maybe she is constipated or can't get the egg out.. Around noon she laid an egg in the yard. Then today, she did not lay an egg at all.. So Im thinking maybe she didn't because the day before she had laid so late so she is getting back on track?
I'm just worried that she has a problem with her eggs/stomach. I am hoping she lays tomorrow morning like normal.

Any help is appreciated ! Thanks you, -Carly :)

Welcome to BYC! :woot

I have limited experience with ducks.
I do know that beginner layers can be a little off at times until they adjust.
I would just keep an eye on her and make sure she looks well
(eating, drinking, alert, active, as is normal, and not loosing any weight).
However, as I said, I have limited experience with ducks and this is just my opinion. :)

A few times I have gone to let my ducks out earlier than they are used to, if they are slow moving or don't want to leave their nest I'll just give them some time and usually come back to find an egg. Once they lay their egg they perk right up and are ready to get out and play. They don't always lay every day though, just started laying a few months ago. I have also heard stomach noises on occasion but always assumed it was just their gizzard working but not sure. Curious to hear what others have to say, a lot of good people and helpful info on BYC :) I'm new to ducks so still learning something new every day... Hope you get some good advice!
