My first eggs are incubating!!!

They're both out now, and I don't have any nutridrench, but I mixed some sugar, water and chick feed and they both took a few drops of that. The partially unzipped one looks like it will be able to go in the main brooder as soon as it can get around. Mr. Poopyshell has a piece of membrane stuck to his wing and is a little weaker, but seems better than I thought it would be.

The big ones toes are already open enough that its feet are sideways instead of like in the picture, but I'll keep an eye on them both. How often should I try to give Mr. Poopyshell liquid food?
As @FloorCandy said, if they're up and moving, they'll feed themselves. It sounds like one might have splay leg. I've found the easiest way to deal with that is cup therapy. They try to get out, which strengthens the right muscles. It may or may not work. Make sure to let them out for food, water, and breaks.

Nothing to do but keep moving forward.
I was too distracted yesterday to mention it, but I took the turning system out of the other incubator yesterday and put in paper towels and shelf liner since I doubt the grid that's in there is good for chick feet, though the paper towels seem to be cutting down the airflow/humidity, so I may remove them. I just added water to the second chamber for the first time so we'll see.

I also got an email yesterday that my CA quail eggs had shipped, so they should be here by Monday.

On another note, I cleaned the brooder and put them on shavings for the first time and taming is going decently.

First two eggs pipped this morning. One was upside down. I have some save-a-chick electrolyte solution now and I'll help it out day after tomorrow morning if it doesn't make significant progress, though it seems to have started to expand the pip already so I'm hopeful.

I took the chicks into their future pen to tame them today. They let me know it was time to go back by climbing into my hands and forming the cutest pile I've ever seen.
