I set the eggs fat end up in a flat egg carton tray last night in anticipation of lockdown on Monday. I hope it helps prevent them from playing soccer with the eggs as they hatch
The temp got up to 103 overnight, on the thermometer on top of the eggs that is now closer to the heating element.....the one on the floor of the brooder was only at 99.
I worry, but, I think they'll probably be ok. Cross your fingers for me!!!
I cranked it down just a notch and it's about 101 on top again.
I put the eggs on lockdown this morning. Upped the humidity to the mid-60%'s
I haven't heard any peeping yet, but it's probably a bit early for them to start talking.
There are big looking chicks in the eggs so cross your fingers for me!!!!!!!!! I expect them to hatch on Thursday!!!
At first I thought it was my immagination, coz our woodend floors transfer the slightest vibrations, but I'm SURE that egg is ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!
OMG this is the hardest part!!!!!!!!
During the first par of the incubation when I got curious I always just said "well I'll use the flashlight when I turn them before bed." Now I want to know what's going on inside, but I can't open the bator, or candle, or touch the eggs! THIS is gonna be the hardest part of incubation!!!!!!!!
I think I probably screwd one thing up though. The thermometer laying on top of the eggs. Uh, that shouldn't be on top of the eggs when I expect them to be hatching out of the eggs, right???

I'll tell you what you can do. Go in your bathroom and turn on the hot water in the shower to steam up the whole room. Take the whole bator in your bathroom and set in on the counter or even floor, whatever. Once it's steamy, have someone open the bator a little bit and the other person quick reach in and get the therm. out. Close it back up. And vawlah! You are back in business. This is how we take out babies or eggs if they need help if we need to.

No noises and no pips yet. I do see a couple of other eggs moving too.
This is so exciting, I can't believe I really took a dead egg (er, the same thing that we eat) and made a living animal out of it!!! Hatching eggs is so much different than birthing mammals!
Now just waiting on that little baby to come out of it's shell so it can be for real!
