My Flock Journey

Update on my chicks:
Got home tonight and the heat lamp was off. Thought the bulb might have blown but no the cord was unplugged. Called my partner to make sure he didnt unplug it but no he didn't. I think a bird has mistaken the extension lead to the brooder from the house as a snake or a lizard and tried to fly off with it. The brooder is about 5 feet if that from the house. So it would have looked like a nice little yellow snack.
But my chicks thank god are ok!!! They were huddled together cold as. Poor babies.
Power has been restored :jumpy

No problem, I've been thinking about doing something similar to you with posting my story because it's a good way to keep track of things and see how far you've come and where you can improve for next time:).

Please do! I will follow. I thought earlier to post it all in one place and read it in 12 months time and see how much has changed.

No, we don't have any droughts here, for now, thank goodness! The weather here however is all over the place, one moment it'll be sunny and just like that it changes into a heavy downpour:th. My chickens always hide under the covered area near the door to get out of the rain, it's a journey to get inside the house:lau.

Glad that all your babies survived:).

We are in a severe drought at the moment and its supposed to rain 95mm on the weekend if it does we maybe flooded in our area. So watch this space. Im glad your not dry like we are. We are so close to buying water.

That's not good, I hope that you get some rain but not flooded:fl. That could be bad:eek:.

Summers do get really bad though, we nearly always have to buy extra water:barnie. Last summer wasn't to bad though:).

We only just bought this house so it will be an experience by itself to see how the weather is around here. I came from suburban household and my partner for 1 acre to now 10 acres so learning slowly about tank water, septic and weather conditions.
