my gander is bleeding from his leg help please

Hi LB thank you honey I did forget. Is it just used as a tonic in the water or to help with infection? Because I know at dialysis they use white vinegar to clean out the machines and then bleach the machines afterwards for bacteria...??? Lb I have never used it before.
It´s really good stuff...it´s a natural disinfectant..like white vinegar, but I think it´s better. For instance, if I have a sore throat I dilute some ACV in warm water and gargle or even drink it (takes some getting used to to drink it). I put it in my birds´water too, as it´s supposed to help keep down nasties like worms and bacteria in general. If I have a chicken sneezing, I give it a good dose of ACV with some water. Gets them right pretty quick. I recently had a chick that got cold in the rain, silly thing. I brought it in, dosed it with ACV and the day after it was good again. One of my geese had a sore eye, so I gave it a bucket of water with ACV in, and it got better quickly....etc etc.

It´d be a good read on the net to see what more it´s good for.

Thank you Lb for reminding me.

I'd say more could break off especially if she is pecking at ice. new pics would be good, you don't think anyone is messing with it?

Well it's been a bit warmer here and only last night did their water freeze. I'm not sure if anyone is messing with it. I don't believe so. The only ones who would be able to would be the ganders but they leave her alone. Here are a few newer pics. Well I guess one newer pic the others were too blurry to make out. But you can see where the crack in her bill goes all the way to the tip now and how it's a wider opening in the middle there. Also a little ways up there her bill just out of the pic there is a small circular spot that has blood under the surface. No cracks or breaks just blood under the surface.

Have I ask this before, do you have any vets that could help you on what might be wrong with her bill....? Also what is ACV just in case I would need this for our geese.....?

There is one vet who owns ducks and chickens but I don't know her extent on her knowledge about them or if she knows anything about geese either. But right now she is in Texas dealing with some family things due to her father passing away while she was down there visiting on vacation. I told my mom to let me know when she comes back (her neighbor works at the vets office) so I can get ahold of her and see if she could do anything.

Maybe some of the vet glue? I don't know what you call it , or maybe some kind of filler. Is she having problems eating or drinking? I'm not sure if that will fill back in by itself or not. Hopefully the vet can tell you.
Where you able to get the goose area done?

I thought it was just the tip, but I can see now that it´s more. I´m sure she´ll be fine, though, just keep doing what you´re doing until the vet gets back. It almost looks like something crushed it. Or an impact injury?

Good idea with the glue..I thought maybe even acrylic nail adhesive may help? But a vet glue sounds better. It would help strengthen it until it healed.

Hmm I don't have any of that kind of stuff here. Would tractor supply have vet glue? Hmm i'm not sure what could of crushed it though. I'm deff going to get ahold of the vet when she gets back just because i'm a bit worried about it being a bill injury. Yup she does eat and drink just fine. I make sure to refresh the water more often to help keep the dirtiness of the water down and so that she's able to clean her bill often. Miss Lydia, haven't gotten to it just quite yet. I'm on a very crazy schedule right now with one of my co workers being out and covering for other peoples shifts too, since i'm the only relief staff they have right now. I'm hoping we don't get any snow like we are supposed to so that I can start it as soon as possible. I tried putting Cheese back out with her flock and while the ducks just fought with her for a few minutes, well more like her fighting with them, the geese didn't exactly give her a warm welcome back. So i'm trying to get it done as soon as I can so she can go back outside. I hate having her cooped up in the house while she's not injured.

Sounds like you have your hands full. I´m sure you don´t have to worry so much about it, as she´s got the damage to the part of the bill that can mend...it´s not at the base of her bill...you know, like I wrote on here about our nails...just keep it clean is the most important thing you can do right now, I´d say. I doubt if anyone will welcome Cheese back, as they have to sort out the pecking-order again. It´ll be a bumpy ride anyway. They´ll calm down, though, and if you stay and watch a bit you may find out how the damage to her back has been happening.
