my gander is bleeding from his leg help please

Well he no longer has any dried blood but still has a small limp. He's actually the only goose whose not in the dog house right now. His other flock mates attacked cheese my Pekin duck. So I am taking care of her at this moment. Poor girl. But uncle waldo is doing better. Hopefully with this warmer weather and the snow being gone it will heal up better.
Happy to hear Uncle Waldo is healing , and I agree with livin in brazil with breeding season right around the corner I am seeing my gander going after the ducks but so far he hasn't hurt anyone. Poor Cheese. she's the one the dog got hold of isn't she? I hope she's okay.

Ya they are all still cooped up. I let them free range for a few hrs if i'm at home during the day but lately i've been doing 6 day stretches at work. I've been looking for another female goose but I havent gotten any luck. No one wants to separate pairs around here. And not a lot of goose owners around here so it's hard. I'm wondering if rehoming one of my ganders will help? But then i don't know because she is the only one that they have ever picked on. They will grab a duck if they get to close but they have only ever really attacked Cheese. Yes Cheese is the one the dog had gotten ahold of. Poor girl has been through so much. She will be ok. Just gonna be inside until she heals. It's a pretty big wound. About the size of the bottom of a cup. Maybe a bit smaller but not much. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be real deep. I was able to look at her good and put some triple antibiotic on her. I tried wrapping it but it's too far up her back under her wings.

But getting another goose isn´t going to solve anything for now, as they´re cooped up. It could actually make things worse. They need space, that´s the most urgent thing to avoid serious conflicts. Once they have space, if he´s just the extra under-gander he´ll just learn to keep his distance, and you can sort him out at a later date.

X2, at this time of year keeping them cooped up together is really putting the ducks at risk. can you get some extra fencing and put together another pen and house so you can keep them separate? There's no way my geese could be cooped up with the ducks. How bad did they hurt her? poor thing she has been through it hasn't she.

It is really not a good idea to keep the geese cooped up with the ducks. Because once breeding time starts if cooped together the geese can kill them.
Right now you do not need another gander to put in there with them. All H--- will start and even a gander can get killed or even a goose. I had a person I know where the gander killed his mate. So anything is possible.

Uncle waldo is all healed up now and no longer has a limp. Cheese is still inside. Her feathers have grown almost all the way back but she still has some scabbing on her back also.
I'm happy to hear Uncle Waldo is all healed up, and sure hoping Cheese will be soon too. Bless her heart she has been through the mill.

Thanks. Yes she really has. She is one tough ducky that's for sure. Over breeding to the point of either a hip/back issue (her butt is to the side of her), a bad dog attack, a goose attack that would of been bad if it hadn't been stopped when it was, and now another goose attack. I'd say she's been through more than her fair share.
