My girls bottom, with picture....please help me.

i have a year old cornish game hen that i keep around for eggs, who recently had the same thing, in conjunction with "coughing/wheezing" and regurgitating her water about once every 3 times or so, i want that worried bout it until one of my DOM's started showing the same coughing symptoms. i just got done hitting my whole grown flock with tylan 50 1/2 cc for LF 1/4 cc for the hens, i didnt inject i gave it orally down the throat with a syringe. anyways, along with no longer coughing/wheezing, her poopy butt has cleared up amazingly. dont know if you want to go that route, but just a experience.

I have read about something called fatbutt syndrome. Do you feed scratch? If chickens get too much, the fat displaces the protein and feathers are mostly protein. You have to cover the area with something to keep other chickens from pecking the area. can`t remember what they said to use but you can look it up. And cut down on the scratch. Hope This Helps.

MotherHen! I don't feed much scratch, but they do feast under the bird feeder most days eating seed. Funny you should mention "fatbutt" - my barred rock that has this is the biggest and by far the fattest of all my flock! Perhaps you are on to something there. Thanks for joining BYC - I can see you'll be an asset to us already!

One of my hens had poop caked on too. I washed it off and gave everyone yogurt. I haven't had a problem since. I give all 7 hens a plate full of the small cups of yogurt about every two weeks. The last time I gave them peach. They love it. If you try this I would like to know if it helps. You could put triple antibiotic on her. Or zinc.

Hi All,
Thank you guys for your input and advice. Still dealing with this with our girl.

Anyone else have any advice on this?

Thanks.
