My Hatching Journey: the Adventures of a Complete Newbie

Started unofficial test run- I didn't realize how much I missed the hum of the auto turner...
(K, I did find a way to measure temps just below the top of the egg- hooray for cardboard and sticky tac!) :gig

I actually like the noise of it too. My family thinks I am crazy!

Hm... Sorta inconclusive results on calibration.... Rock bottom is 30, and both of them went to 30, but this time I used whole ice cubes instead of crushed and sat it outside until it got a ice crust on top. Soo... Should I say that's good enough? Try again with crushed? Maybe it was too cold?

Edit: retried, the one I didn't let touch the ice cubes read 32, that musta been the problem.

Where are you anyway outside ice crusted on top that is so wrong .

crushed ice wait two minutes stick it in the ice water .but it sounds ok after the second try and they both read the same. I told you they are very good thermometers just hard to read in the high range . I read the card board good ! like I said your bright . Are you running yet ? Or waiting till tomorrow ? I have finished my steam cleaning and now to disinfect and reassemble . That is two maybe three hours work

. I'll be up late tonight . I have to set running out of room for eggs . they are every where .I may fill another next week .

I'm definitely not in Florida. ;)

Yes, I have it running.... Got as many stones as I could chip outa the icy driveway in there, all bleached and scrubbed.
Now I have 3 thermometers and 1 hygrometer in there... Sound like enough?

I'm pretty sure that phrase is the biggest understatement that has ever been posted here...

I started gathering for set on the 24th but may start from the 25th enough to fill the incubator and then some on the eggs . My EEs lay pretty blue eggs . and a good size . for a medium sized chicken.
