My hen has a prolapsed vent !

If you can post some photos that would be good.

You mention that some of the poop on the prolapse does not wash off? Is it hardened and crusty? Possibly necrotic tissue?

You are doing what you can, I would try to keep the exposed tissue moist. The vaseline is fine if that is what you have on hand. Do you have anti-inflammatory cream (hydrocortisone cream 1%) or hemorrhoid cream available? The anti-inflammatory cream would be my choice to help reduce swelling, if not use the hemorrhoid cream.
I agree with giving her a soak and try to keep the prolapse cleaned up the best you can.

The swelling needs to go down before she can draw it in and retain it. I would also give her extra calcium. Finely crushed/ground eggshell added to her feed or if available, human Calcium supplement (1/2 tablet) daily for a few days.
The poop that doesn't wash off is very juicy. Not hard. We do not have anti -inflammatory cream. I already gave her some extra calcium yesterday. I'm going to put in pics right now

Update on my little hen: this afternoon I gave her a nice warm bath. All the poop fell off and into the water:sick I then put on some vaseline and pushed in the prolapsed area and held it there with my finger. It kept popping out:barnie . But with one final attempt it stayed there. She wandered off while I cleaned up. It then popped out again. I was scared that this wasn't going to work. But then I put it in again, and this time it finally stayed there. She is combing herself and eating again. I realised that she is also making more noises, which is good. I'm going to watch her for a few days and watch and see if she is pooping :D

Glad the poop fell off and you finally got the prolapse in! Sometimes it may come back out, so just be patient and repeat the steps you have taken.

Thank you for the photos and the update on her progress, please keep us posted.

Well done for getting the poop off and the prolapse pushed back in. Don't be discouraged if it comes back out. Just be persistent and keep putting it back in and eventually it will stay there.
You mention that you fed her some chicken seed.....
I gave her chicken seed feed before bed and she ate a lot.
Is this their normal feed or do you also feed a pellet or crumble. Prolapse can occur as a result of a dietary imbalance causing the bird to store fat around the vent and reducing the opening so that they have to strain really hard to pass an egg and then the tissue gets trapped outside the body. Grains and seeds are high in carbohydrates and fats which can cause this surplus fat in some birds especially if they pick out certain components of the feed (their favourite bits) and leave others. This may not be the cause but it is worth considering and perhaps changing to a homogenised feed like a pellet to ensure a balanced ration is being consumed by all the hens.
It also looks like the poop that was stuck to her vent/prolapse was mostly white/liquid urates. Is she also passing normal brown/grey poop with the white capping. Sometimes if there is an obstruction of the lower gut often due to a reproductive problem, only urates are able to be passed and the bird will eventually die from toxic build up of waste in their system. Hopefully this is not the case and she is also passing normal poop.
