Glad she is doing better! The aspirin is also an anti inflammatory (which is why it was initially mentioned), and a good thing to keep on hand for human emergencies like heart attacks... Happy New Years! I’m not sure where you are, but I’m thinking on the other side of the date line from me :) May 2019 bring you and your chickens good heath and much happiness!
Thank you !! Same for you and all your animals ! May 2019 be a great year to anyone reading this message !:bun

Oh and guys about the asperin, my chicken is very small. Like a quarter of the size of a normal chicken. And I'm scared that if I go with those dosages - which may be for normal sized chickens - that I give her an overdose. And she's not really in alot of pain, her prolapse is also not really that big compared to other chickens that I have seen while doing research
Well done - you've really completely committed your time and energy to this little chicken :) Hopefully the prolapse will stay in :fl For now, it sounds good. :highfive:

Thanks for the fast reply! Yeah I've also read about those things. I live in South Africa, Cape Town.

@Janke Beukes Thank you for the update! Glad to hear she is doing better, please keep us posted.

@Kris5902 I think Janke was gone already before she got your message. Her location was on the first page:)
This is why it really is important for that information to be provided, so many people from around the world visit BYC it's hard to keep up with it all!

Me, too. I can't seem to get anything right today... Gonna go crawl under a chair...
... and learn to be quiet...:duc

:hugs Get out from under that chair!! I see you!! You're cracking me up:gig

Okay so this morning when I got my hen out of the coop the prolapse was back out again, but I just put it back in like normally. Those white dead tissues that did not want to wash off came off on their own, but still not everything. If i pull that piece off I know the tissue will be very damaged and bleed veery bad. She's also eating again like she used to. But almost every time she poops the prolapse pops back out. I did apply Bactroban to her prolapse - it heals wounds but doesn't dry it out and also serves as an anti-inflammatory. I smeared that on and let the prolapse hang outside for about 5 minutes and then put it back in. I could see that her butt was reacting tp my touch, it made movements without the prolapse popping back out. Like reflex movements.
She's pooping normally, but she's still dripping that liquid,- can't remember what you call it haha, uretra I think? Something like that. She's drinking alot of water but I think it's that liquid that keeps dripping that dehydrates her. She's very active this morning. The prolapse's dead tissue that I had to take off seemed to leave some kind of scar or just raw tissue, but it's healing up nicely. She's pooping on her own again, I dont need to empty her like I had to at the start if this. I really hope the prolapse stays in today !

I hope it stays in today too! It sounds like she is dealing with it well (as are you!)
Is a visit to the Vet still the plan?
We are sttuggling to find a good vet that gives medicine to chickens and actually diagnoses them. But her prolapse is healing up very nicely and I'm giving my chicken plain yogurt as a antibiotic and it seems to working
