My Americana hen just started laying and she is laying three eggs a day. How can she sustain that? It's been going on for 6 days! They are small (blue, ~2" tip to tip) eggs. Please advise. Thanks!

Well, she is the oldest. I have another Americana that is about a month younger and a Black Minorca that is also a month younger. Since the eggs are blue, I know it is not the Minorca. Plus, she is the one that is sitting on the nest and yesterday I kept checking back on her and saw the egg number increase from 1-3. Unless the younger one snuck in there in between my peeks, I think "Hazel" really is laying that many.

No Way !!!!!!!! 3 - you are lucky !!!!

I know! But I worry about her health with that kind of output! She's our favorite!

If that's the case, one of them is still prolific at two a day. But I really don't think that younger one is doing it. I checked every 10 minutes yesterday and Hazel didn't move from the nest. I'll have to put a sky cam in the backyard to really know for sure, I guess.
