My hen just laid an egg in front of me!

Exactly as the title says, one of my hens just laid an egg in front of me after squawking for a few minutes. Has anyone else had something like this happen? It was funny!

Was it outside or in the coop? My hens are young so my buff was laying outside anytime I let them out of the enclosure and she just didn't care she would walk by me squatting a little it and just poped it out like nothing happened. She does it inside now lol but I was very confused at first hahaha.

I had one that I thought was sick - very lethargic and went straight to her roost when I was putting them up. She’s always the first one looking for treats. Well, she decided that maybe she did feel good enough for a meal worm so she jumped off the roost onto the dirt in the run. And suddenly there was an egg underneath her. I guess the impact worked the egg loose.

It was in their coop, but I sometimes find eggs outside too lol

At fair this year, a girl was holding her speckled Sussex in line and it laid an egg. Suffice to say, it didn't survive the cement landing

that funny but i would have hated to clean it up bc of the hard landing lol

Ehh, it was a healthy egg, so it didn't splatter everywhete. The shell kept most of it close so it was a simple pick it up, wipe the slab down and the carry on

idk because mine have never done that. When they are out free ranging, they always go back into the coop to the nesting boxes. But, I bet it was funny...Like..What the Heck? You just lay an egg and keep walking like nothing ever happened? Lol

She just squatted, popped the egg out, and went back to her usual thing!
