My husband is a meaney :(

Years ago we bought chickens with out telling my dad and would hide them in the spare room no one went in. He wouldnt find out till he heard them peeping. Now with my mom since we went years with out chickens we have to beg her to get more. Right now im trying to talk her into letting me have more d'uccles. I told her we can sell hatching eggs for lots of money, lol. I think it'll do the trick. Plus i show in 4-h, and dont really have a good pair to use so i need to buy some SQ ones

good point...I should have clarified...I went to my hubby with research and said...we need at least one hen per member of the house for good egg production...we are co- cooping with neighbors so we now have 9 chickens and they have 7
I hope we get LOTS of eggs!! My hubby thinks I am just nuts!! He now calls me the chicken lady and has forbidden me to go to the chicken farm!!! I don't blame him one bit!!

thanks for looking out for our husbands!

What I did last time was order my chicks and then a few days before they arrived, I butter him up with lots of good food, then when I tell him he isn't mad at all, but likes the idea!! Works for me, lol!

My husband came home last week and told me he needed to buy a trailer (car hauler type) and asked me to search CL. Knew something was up. You see, he had to buy the trailer because he had already paid for an antique tractor and needed the bigger better trailer than the one we have in order to get it home. Anyone want to guess how many chicks the tractor and trailer cost?
We learned long ago that if the bills were paid and food on the table to give each other some space on our hobbies. I will never get his tractor thing and he will never understand why we have a stockpile of quilting supplies and animals.

Yup, when the scrapbook craze got really big the DW went into it with both feet. I never asked a question or said a word about even if I thought it was a little excessive. Even now, her and several friends will go away to weekend-long scrapbook benders. I know they spend a boat load on it, but it's her thing. The chickies are mine.

Ha!! DH HAS a Harley... so when/if he starts with me, I always say something like "When I spend as much a month on my chickens (and horse too) as you do on that Harley .. come talk to me ...

Yeah, I really don't see that there's a loser in that approach.
