My Ivy.. Latest Relapse...She's Gone

If this were anyone else Cyn, this probably wouldn't affect all of us the way it does. But we know how much love and care you put into your girls, and how special each and every one of them is to you. When we see that in you, we see it reflected in how many of us feel about our own chickens. I pity those who have never known the friendship and companionship of a chicken. They don't know what they're missing. But we do. And we know what will be missing from your life when the Great Spirit decides to finally call these wonderful girls home. The void will be enormous. I hope you'll allow us to help you fill it, when the time comes.

No thanks are needed from you gal. I feel like I know most of your girls and love em too. I understand how special and unique each one ot them is with their antics, attitudes and place in your heart. I worry about them daily too.

Ivy is just one special tough girl. Livvie sounds like such a sweetie when she talks to you. Ginger...well Ginger reminds me of the regal graceful monarch type...just taking care of daily business. I know you will miss them.

Thanks Serrin!
It couldn't be said any better. I know I strive to be like Speckled Hen, and show my girls the love that she shows hers. Her caring nature shines through the print.

Thanks Cyn for the update!

I feel certain (again) that the sad announcement about Ivy is near. Honestly, I just hope I don't have to help her along, not my Ivy, but I will if she takes an even worse downturn than she already has.

Hi Cynthia,

I keep a daily update on any news of Ivy - I was so optimistic she would pull through and I still am of the same thoughts - she is one amazing chicken as is her "Mum" Cynthia - it is you that she stays alive for and I know you will be there for her whenever she needs you for whatever reason - I have said it before and I will say it again - you are truly an inspiration to all of us who have, and love our chickens, you are the best and I hope that Ivy keeps surprising you by being with you and enjoying her life with the best Mum she could ever have wished for!

Keep amazing us Ivy! Keep well for your Mum and for those of us who wish you both well! You are truly loved!

Suzie

No matter what tomorrow may bring Cynthia, I hope that you can always take comfort and find joy in knowing that Ivy shared this time on Earth with you. We are so privileged to know these wonderful creatures for even a day. When the Great Spirit sees fit to grant us years with them, we are all the more privileged indeed.

: You and all of your girls are always in my prayers and never far from my thoughts and heart. Take care.

Thanks so much! I admit I am very sentimental about my original ladies. Ivy is still hanging on like a pitbull! She is truly amazing. I took her some grits with eggs, mackerel and vitamins mixed in this morning and she got to eat her fill before the others discovered her goodies.

Ginger is also still here. I am wondering about her sister, Sunny, my other older Buff Orp, though. She still lays three eggs a week, but she is bone thin. She has little meat on her keel. There may be something completely different wrong with her than I've seen before in my flock. The others in her group are fat and sassy, so I doubt it's worms, but I did worm them anyway. Other than worms and internal laying stuff, what else would cause her to be so darn thin? She seems healthy in all other respects.
