My Ivy.. Latest Relapse...She's Gone

Cyn, can I send Denny to Tom for a bit of chicken sensitivity training? He could do with a large dose of it. I know he likes the chickens, and enjoys watching them..... but it would be so much more fun if he LOVED them like I do!

I'll trade you skilled labor [Denny] around your place for sensitivity training from Tom!

Do we have a deal?!?!

Still keeping y'all in my thoughts and prayers for a peaceful passing for Ivy. And that Lexie will accept the absence of Ivy with quiet calm and dignity. Now there's another very special little lady!

You got that right! I have never seen another man with the kind of "Chicken Sense" ,for lack of a better term, that Tom has. It is so amazing to see him with the birds! They just LOVE him and you can tell he loves them also

You got a good one there.

I can say I am blessed with one who is sensitive to them and most animals but he is a reaist and will do what is best for them first, then be upset later. When I feared Cannonball would have to be put down because of her cracked upper beak, he was very upset but calmly told me to "call it". Bless his heart and he cried like a baby when I was at the vet's having my wolf put down. I had to send him to a corner so he did not upset my boy.

When Thor passed away and he found out about it, he was upset and he told me to do whatever I needed to do to keep from losing any others...he said "baby, air condition the coop, you have lost too much already". I love that about him because we both have the ability to be "the strong one" when the other is not. Makes for a good balance.

Yes, it does. Your guy is a peach of a fella! I bet he and Tom would get along very well.

I told Tom that he could try to take Lexie out of the cage with Ivy. She was standing up in there facing the door. He opened the cage, held out his arms and said, "Lexie, come on out. I'll take you back". She turned around, walked to the back where Ivy was laying down facing the back wall, and laid down right beside her, touching at the shoulder area. She absolutely refused to leave her sister.

Earlier, when Tom went out with a cup of water to give to Ivy since she'd been laying in the back for hours, he found that she had somehow made her way to the front and was drinking out of the waterer on her own so she still has that iron will to keep going.

Here are the sisters.

Such a sweet and precious pair of wonderful little ladies. I'm so going to miss Ivy when she goes. There are so many things about her to admire, but surely it's her determination to hang on just a bit longer, time and again, that chokes me up with tears of respect and admiration. What an amazing little girl.
