My ladies are finally laying!

My Plymouth Rocks and Silver Wayndotte are finally laying. Now my question is can I eat these first couple of eggs or should I wait for the "second" round of eggs to start eating them. This first egg is small, but I've read they will get bigger. Is that true?

Well congratulations! You can definitely eat those smallish eggs. Nothing wrong with them at all. And the eggs will get bigger with time.

That first or second egg tastes the best! When I got the first one, I looked at it and said "That's a $5,000 egg". When I got the second one, the cost per egg went down to only $2,500! Can you tell my husband built me a chicken castle?
